CARAVANE #2, la seconde étape du festival, s'est tenue à Strasbourg du 1er au 13 avril 2003 et a invité les artistes belges, bosniens et serbes dans la capitale alsacienne. Le but de ce festival est la rencontre de différentes cultures en mettant l’accent sur le patrimoine de ces pays, et en identifiant les voix qui représentent ces traditions aujourd’hui. Nous cherchons un langage qui dépasse les barrières du style, des traditions et des préjugés.
À l’heure où l’Europe se construit, il s’agit de s’interroger sur les frontières, et sur ce qui sépare les peuples. Qu’est-ce qu’une nation à l’intérieur d’une frontière?
Nous mettons en place un espace cathartique d’échanges entre artistes, où les multiples disciplines des arts s’écoutent, se concertent et s’affrontent. Ainsi, les participants et les spectateurs au festival pourront se poser la question: Qu’est ce qui nous rapproche? Qu’avons-nous en commun?
Il s’agit de donner les moyens à l’imaginaire, pour réécrire la ville comme un terrain d’échanges et de contrastes. Pour échapper à une image figée de la culture, le festival prend la forme d’un laboratoire. Il s’agit d’inventer des dispositifs scéniques, d’explorer d’autres rapports au public, influencés par la diversité des manifestations, fabriquer des nœuds d’intensité différente, développer des outils et des méthodologies capables de penser nos territoires en mutation.


CARAVANE #2, the festival’s second round, took place from the 1st to the 13th April 2003 in Strasbourg. After Sarajevo, the Alsacian capital invited the Belgian, Bosnian, and Serbian artists.
The purpose of the festival is to cross various cultures, focusing on their heritage and to identifing today’s people who try to pass them on. We are trying to find a language able to overcome the barriers of points of views, traditions and prejudices.
While Europe is being built, we question the meaning of boundaries and what keeps people separated. What is a nation within a border ?
We are setting up a cathartic place where artists can freely exchange their ideas, allowing different artistic fields to meet together, to discuss and to confront one another. Thanks to that, the participants and the audience will ask themselves: what bounds us together? What do we have in common?
Our wish is to bring means to the imaginary to rewrite the town as a land of exchange and contrasts. In order to avoid a motionless idea of culture, we thought about the festival as a laboratory. The challenge is to think of new theatrical installations, different relationships with the audience influenced by the events diversity, to create different ties of intensity, to develop tools and thinking structures able to reflect our territories always in transformation.
